Paris has many famous markets selling quality products . Some of the markets are renowned for their specialty . Some of the famous markets are Carré Rive Gauche des Antiques an antique market, Marché aux Fleurs et aux Oiseaux flower and a bird market, Marché aux Livres a book market, Rue Montorgueil famous food market : Marché d’Aligre very economically priced food market

i) Carré Rive Gauche des Antiques.

For antique lovers , the lane Carré Rive Gauche des Antiques is the right place to visit. It is located in the historical section of Paris which encompasses the august Louvre and another great museum Musée des Arts Décoratifs . Carré Rive Gauche des Antiques has more than hundred stores and galleries dealing with work of arts like; glassware , furniture , paintings , sculptures , timepieces, tea sets from medieval age to modern era. An antique shopper gets enthralled to see artistic works like giltwood sofa of Louis XV era or the seventeenth century glassware. Important names in the antique industry of Paris like Didier Aaron and Patrick Frémontier have their stores in Carré Rive Gauche des Antiques the famous antique market of Europe.

ii) Marché aux Fleurs et aux Oiseaux

Marché aux Fleurs et aux Oiseaux is the ideal flower market. The market which is centrally located across Prefecture de Police i.e. the main police office , is a perfect place to buy all type of flowers be it orange roses , orange germini, yellow sunflowers , pink orchids, germini, and so on. Bouquets for any type of occasions exists at Marché aux Fleurs et aux Oiseaux . In addition to radiant flowers , one can also buy plants grown at home. The flower market is open from 8 in the morning to 6.00 in the evening from Monday to Saturday . On Sundays the flower market changes to bird market where pet birds are sold in cages.

iii)Marché aux Livres

This famous book market is located in the 15th district of Paris. The stores of Marché aux Livres offer both medieval and modern books. In Marché aux Livres one can find ones favorite prose and poetry which are no more printed.

iv) The Rue Montorgueil

This market provides the ultimate food experience in Paris . Located a little distance from Notre Dame this market is famous in for its quality food products like cheese , bread, wine and fish . Though this market originated centuries back primarily as a seafood market specializing in oysters and fish, today the Rue Montorgueil also possesses famous stores and restaurants. . The famous pastry shop Stohrer was inaugurated by Louis XV personal chef in 1730 at the Rue Montorgueil. This chef, then went on to devise the world famous baba au rhum in this very patisserie. Baba chantilly, macaroons, chocolate and pistachio, are some other famous pastries of Stohrer. Equally famous is L'Escargot a restaurant which was inaugurated in 1832 .This restaurant is frequented by politicians and celebrities.

Marché Saxe-Breteuil

One of the popular markets of Paris, Marché Saxe-Breteuil is situated near to the magnificent complex Les Invalides an area of French military buildings. The products available in this large market are of excellent quality . People can shop here for products of their daily use like black and green olives , red and yellow peppers, cheese, fish, meat leather goods, cooking pots, flowers, carpets. Farmers come to sell their produce directly in Marché Saxe-Breteuil . The market is open only on two days of the week : Thursday and Saturday between 9 am and 1 pm

Marché d’Aligre

The most economical priced market Marché d’Aligre lies close to the historic Bastille. It is also the most vivacious food markets of Paris . This bustling market offers all type of food products like cheese, salamis, spices, dates , olive oils at a most reasonable rate. The market has been in existence since 1777, . While shopping in this lively market ,One would also get a real taste of Paris’s diverse culture since there are many stalls belonging to people of Caribbean, Algerian and Moroccan descent.
